The email service is the first software of its kind to be accredited by Becta, making the service available to educational organisations that may wish to buy the solution.
Webroot said: ” To achieve its place on the scheme, Webroot’s Email Security Service was subject to rigorous scrutiny by Becta who reviewed the technology driving the solution as well as the quality of service provision surrounding matters including service level agreements, helpdesk process management and customer service delivery.”
It follows research by Becta that found the efficiencies gained by using technology have saved over GB pound 1 billion of teachers’ time between 2005 and 2008.
Protecting children with ‘best email filtering’ service
Mark Altman, of technology provider for education, Altman Technologies, has endorsed the Webroot certification. He said:”We have had a long and fruitful partnership with Webroot. We have a large install base of Webroot services in the education sector and this further validates their leadership in technology, being the first email filtering service to be certified.
“We continue to see the education sector requiring a high duty of care for their users from the growing base of inappropriate emails that could reach a child if not protected”.
Speaking about Webroot’s acceptance onto Becta’s accreditation programme, Mark Tickle, managing director EMEA for Webroot, said: “As use of the internet by students, teachers and management within the educational environment continues to increase, the need to ensure this critical communication tool remains safe becomes ever more pressing.
