BSkyB takes care of employees thanks to Identicom
The system was chosen following an extensive evaluation and field trial where it was up against other lone worker devices. BSkyB’s engineers voted overwhelmingly in favour of the Identicom product.
The Identicom i777 allows the end user to retain control of their location data. However, should they need assistance then current GPS data can be communicated to the Alarm Receiving Centre element of the solution in order for them to be located.
This is coupled with standard Identicom functionality of easy wear, discreet use and credible audio evidence capture.
“BSkyB takes the Health and Safety of its employees very seriously indeed,” commented Robert Gathergood, head of access implementation at BSkyB. “Therefore, we investigated a number of lone worker devices. Our trial of Identicom proved successful with very positive feedback from our employees.”
Fully-managed service for lone workers
BSkyB has purchased a number of Identicom i777 devices through SoloProtect for their team of telecommunications engineers.
SoloProtect is a fully-managed service for lone workers delivering peace of mind to worker and employer alike. The solution encompasses the five core elements essential for a credible and complete lone worker solution. These include the Identicom device, SIM Card and inclusive network usage, face-to-face user training, 24-hour manned monitoring and Connexion2’s dedicated customer support team both pre- and post-sale.
The Identicom lone worker device is an Identity card holder containing mobile phone technology for use by a lone worker facing risk of verbal abuse, attack or a ‘man-down’ situation.
“We’re aware that Identicom functionality has achieved compliance in line with BS 8484, and also has ‘Secured by Design’ accreditation which means that it has undergone vigorous evaluation,” explained Gathergood.
“Our engineers find the device easy to use, and it gives them confidence knowing that it could quickly raise the alarm if their safety were ever to be compromised.”
Solutions direct to market
Connexion2 supplies solutions direct to market through the SoloProtect brand while supplying indirectly through a number of authorised reseller partners.
Connexion2 is fully approved against BS 8484 through audit and, as such, all solutions through SoloProtect are guaranteed an escalation to Police level where appropriate.
Connexion2 was formed in 2003 and specialises in lone worker security.
Passionate about raising the profile of safe lone working, the company focuses on improving the safety and productivity of such workers through understanding the needs of employees, employers and other key Stakeholders such as the police service.
Launch of Identicom mobile for BlackBerry
In May this year, Connexion2 launched Identicom mobile – a brand new product offering for lone workers facing infrequent risk.
An application for a BlackBerry smartphone, Identicom mobile is easy to use, simple to download and gives a lone worker much of the functionality of the Identicom lone worker device but this time on a smart phone.
