Compact system combines safety and entertainment

[

Entertainment and safety are the key words surrounding the Vigilon Compact Voice (VCV) fire alarm system from Gent by Honeywell. As well as offering public address and voice alarm functionality during an emergency, the VCV can play background music in its dormant state.

Gent by Honeywell’s managing director, Mark Ayton, commented on the importance of the system’s voice capabilities: “Studies by the Fire Research Station shows only 13% of people react to bells, whilst 70% react to voice message. The VCV’s ability to identify a situation and isolate different parts of a building is an industry first, meaning it is an ideal system for public buildings where it is important to keep people safe and informed.”

Able to synchronise the broadcast of emergency messages and pre-tones for alert, evacuate, bomb and three auxiliary messages, VCV is designed for small to medium sized buildings. It supports two loops of detection and is compatible with other Vigilon devices such as the S-Quad sensors, as well as visual and audible alarms. Another feature of VCV is its fault tolerant distributed architecture, whereby amplifier units are controlled by the fire detection loop to ensure the system remains operational in the event of cable faults.
