Door supervisor ‘upskilling’ award to be launched by licensed hospitality sector
The new award will consist of two units: physical intervention skills for the private security industry; and safety awareness for door supervisors.
All door supervisors who qualified prior to June 2010 will soon need to achieve the Level 2 Award for Upskilling Door Supervisors in order to renew their Security Industry Authority licences.
Physical intervention skills became a mandatory part of a door supervisor’s qualification in 2010. These were identified as important for door supervisors to know appropriate techniques for dealing with difficult situations and know how to safely escort customers off the premises.
The new Level 2 award for Upskilling Door Supervisors will also cover first aid awareness, legislation on children and young people, and dealing with terrorist threats.
