East Renfrew Council goes digital with Sanyo

Nine Sanyo DTL-4800P digital video recorders and seven MPX-CD92P nine-channel multiplexers developed by Sanyo have been installed to serve East Renfrewshire Council’s dedicated CCTV Control Room.
Installed by the local branch of ADT Fire and Security, the Sanyo DTL-4800P is a 520 TV lines digital recorder specifically designed “to combine the substantial benefits of digital technology with the convenience, reliability and familiarity of analogue recording on tape”. Sounds like the end user’s dream!

The Control Room – which is run and managed by CCTV and facilities management specialist Gordon Turner – is used to monitor and record images from an 18-camera set-up that tracks the East Renfrewshire town centre areas.
In addition, it now enjoys the responsibility of having to monitor 25 cameras installed and previously monitored by the local police force.
“The DTL-4800P produces very high quality recordings,” said Turner. “Recordings that, from our experience, cannot be matched by conventional analogue VCR technology. We’ve found that using the DTL-4800P in conjunction with the MPX-CD92P high resolution multiplexers ensures that there’s no degradation in the quality of captured images.”

Turner added that East Renfrewshire Council is planning to increase the number of cameras monitored at the Control Room in the next 12 months.
