EC orders Dutch Government to reform security regulations

The European Commission has asked the Dutch Government to reform its security regulations by scrapping ‘red tape’ that hinders companies from other EU Member States when they’re trying to win contracts in the Netherlands.
At present, private security companies from the UK who wish to operate in Holland must receive prior authorisation from the Dutch authorities, even for temporary guarding contracts.
They also have to supply all employees with a special permit – otherwise known as a ‘legitimatiebewijs’ card – obtained from the relevant officials.
The Commission has demanded that the Netherlands authorities begin to recognise professional security qualifications obtained in other EU Member States.
