Whitepaper: Enhancing security, resilience and efficiency across a range of industries

Elver celebrates 25 years’ service

Elver has played an integral role in TSSI’s evolution from a small WaterMark magnetics, security thread and reader manufacturer to a global security powerhouse.

Ian joined TSSI in 1984, beginning his career in the Manufacturing and Production Department but quickly progressing into a customer-related and sales role where he began to establish long-lasting and profitable relationships with prospective clients and partners.

Elver was promoted to business development director in 2008 to oversee and support the development of the security leader’s document security and brand protection business areas (which include Watermark Magnetics for plastic card security, OpVantia thread for embedding into paper, OptiGard secure machine-readable holograms and DeedMark hot roll and hot foil stripes and patches for securing paper products).

Fostering long-term business relationships

“Ian is a tremendously valued member of staff at TSSI,” said John Barker, the company’s general manager and sales director. “Not only has he been instrumental in leading TSSI on a journey of success throughout the years, but he also has the outstanding ability to instil trust with new customers and foster long-term relationships by consistently delivering to their needs.”

Looking ahead, Elver will be responsible for taking TSSI’s WaterMark and OptiGard products – used to prevent the counterfeit of branded products and card fraud – to the forefront of security decision makers’ minds.

Ian will also be responsible for developing and sourcing new advanced products to complement TSSI’s existing product portfolio and, in so doing, meet ever-changing market demands.

Milestones attained by Elver

Significant milestones reached during Ian’s career at TSSI include the implementation of TSSI’s WaterMark tape on approximately 400,000 passenger travel cards for The Toronto Transit Commission, Toronto’s municipal subway and network.

Ian has also established relationships with customers such as G4S, Oberthur Technologies, Sisys, the Ministry Of Defence (MOD) and Swedish banks, to name a few.

Commenting on his personal milestone, Elver told SMT Online: “The market has changed considerably during my time at TSSI. Security issues are now more complex than ever, and require a variety of responses instead of just one solution. It’s my job to respond to these customers’ needs by providing them with reliable, top of the range security products to protect their brands.”

Elver concluded: “TSSI has instilled in me an invaluable and profound understanding of the document and brand security market. Without the continuous support I have received over the years from my team and TSSI’s major investors, namely the Right Honourable Lord Young of Graffham and executive chairman Danny Chapchal, I wouldn’t have enjoyed such success. It’s a team effort.”
