Family firm throws off old style to give staff a stake in success

Since it started in 1964, Altrincham-based family firm Keyways Security has expanded from a local locksmith and provider of security and safety systems for high voltage circuits, to one of the top UK security specialists with a workforce of more than 40 full-time employees. But, realising that its management style was old-fashioned, the NACOSS approved installer decided to commit itself to Investors in People to ensure that staff would have a stake in the success of the business.
As a result of the accreditation received, the company has totally changed in character. "We now all feel that the company has a future with a defined role and direction," says Wendy Morris, Keyways’ Administration Manager. "We have a new internal culture which involves all our employees – some of whom have been with us for up to 25 years."
