Fire safety breaches uncovered in Karaoke bar crackdown
Some 13 breaches of essential fire safety measures were found during an inspection last Saturday night of Karaoke bars in Sydney, Australia.
Officers from New South Wales Fire and Rescue, together with police and licensing officials, carried out inspections of more than 20 karaoke bars in the city. One of the bars was shut down for three hours because emergency fire exit doors were locked preventing the safe escape of occupants.
The crackdown, led by officers from the NSW Police Force Alcohol and Licensing Enforcement Command (ALEC) also uncovered breaches of food standards, alcohol legislation and security enforcement.
