Free advice to installers

Training advice to installers in two different areas of security forms a focal point to this year’s Securex. DD243 Solutions will be a special advice area of the exhibition. Supported by Security Installer magazine, it will include experts on-hand from both installer inspectorates, the NSI and SSAIB.
Installers will be able to get free practical advice and help on aspects of the legislation which came into effect in July.
It will offer free and impartial advice on the design, installation and marketing of intruder alarm systems in light of the new standard. There will be two elements on offer: The Advice Centre, which will provide installers and other relevant groups with face-to-face guidance from specialists in the area, and the Seminar Theatre, which will play host to topical seminar sessions hosted by experts like specialist consultant Martin Kane and SSAIB Chief Executive Geoff Tate.
Exhibitor-hosted seminars from relevant companies will also feature.
Henry Lott of the SSAIB commented: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to educate the market in this way. Securex is the perfect forum for guidance in such a complicated area.”
At the same time, a CCTV Knowledge Zone, comprising of interactive demonstrations and hands-on equipment trials, will seek to keep visitors informed on the latest developments in subjects such as IP network video and data protection.
Aimed at installers and end users, the CCTV Knowledge Zone in association with Tavcom Training will act as a forum for visitors to be able to obtain expert advice on many installation and user issues, with the chance to get involved in interactive demonstrations and hands-on equipment trials. There will be specific advice and demonstrations on prepared topics, but visitors will be free to ask their own questions.
Topics covered in the free-of-charge sessions will include: Network (IP) video compared with ‘traditional’ CCTV; Data Protection issues for installers and end-users; Opportunity for installers; Essential CCTV calculations; and Back focusing.
Securex, organised by CMP Information, takes place at Earls Court 2 from October 22-24.
Visitors can pre-register for free entry to the event by phoning the visitor hotline, +44 1923 690 631 or by visiting the event website, www.securex.co.uk.
Securex runs alongside FM Expo, the leading event for facilities managers.
