G4S Technology integrates Symmetry with Gatekeeper under vehicle inspection systems

The Gatekeeper Under Vehicle Inspection System is designed for sites where the risk of security threats is very high.

One of the most significant threats is terrorists using vehicles, especially ‘trusted vehicles’ to smuggle weapons, explosives or people into secure facilities of all kinds.

A statement from G4S Technology said: “Using the Symmetry Security Management System with the Gatekeeper Under Vehicle Inspection System, these risks can be substantially reduced.”

Every time a vehicle enters a site it passes over the Gatekeeper vehicle inspection cameras and is automatically logged within Symmetry.

ANPR integration
The vehicle registration number is recorded via integration with Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology and images of the vehicles underside are stored.

The under vehicle inspection cameras, set into the ground, compile high resolution 3D images of the vehicles’ underside, creating a virtual ‘fingerprint’. If any anomalies are found, these are raised as an alarm within Symmetry and the vehicle is prevented from entering the site.

Using ANPR technology, Gatekeeper can also cross-reference images of a vehicles’ underside against previous records for that vehicle or against a standard vehicle model database identifying if any modifications have been made.

Any anomalies are immediately flagged for review by the system operator, who can then raise an alarm if the anomaly is deemed suspicious.

Highly sophisticated
Christopher Miller, chief executive officer for Gatekeeper Security, said: “The Gatekeeper is a highly sophisticated system, the technology and capabilities are unique to the market and are by far the most reliable method for under vehicle inspection. Integratingwith Symmetry enables sites to immediately identify and respond to any suspicious vehicles”.

David Ella, chief technology officer for G4S Technology, said: “Symmetry provides a comprehensive proactively integrated security system for many very secure sites around the world.

“By adding the link to the Gatekeeper under Vehicle Inspection Systems we are adding an additional layer of security which may be relevant to our customers in these volatile times”.
