Converged Security in 2019: Highlights and Insights from IFSEC International

Gibraltar Governor takes NSI chair

The former Governor and Commander in Chief of Gibraltar, Sir Francis Richards KCMG CVO has been appointed as the new chairman of the National Security Inspectorate.

The appointment of Sir Francis follows the retirement of Sir Michael Bett CBE.

Sir Francis has had a distinguished senior level public service career, most recently as Governor and Commander in Chief of Gibraltar from 2003 to 2006. He was previously Director of Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) from 1998 to 2006. Prior to that he held a number of top level posts at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

Sir Michael Bett, said: “I am delighted with the appointment of Sir Francis as my successor at a time when both the security and fire sectors are under the regulatory spotlight. NSI has established itself as the benchmark for robust third-party certification with a deserved reputation as a quality, respected organisation. With Sir Francis’ unparalled experience, he will undoubtedly make a great contribution to NSI.”
