Ingersoll Rand appoints Keyways as PegaSys approved installer

Based in Manchester, Keyways will support specifications of the new PegaSys intelligent access control system, create quotations, supply and install systems and provide after-sales service, support and maintenance for the North of England region.

Founded in the 1960s, Keyways is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of electronic security systems. Using the very latest technologies available, the company is committed to quality, design and manufacture through to supply, installation service and support.

Keyways has been trading for over 40 years, and was accredited in the late 1980s by the (then) NSCIA which later became NACOSS and finally matured into the predominant industry regulator the NSI (for whom Keyways is now a Gold-approved installer for intruder alarms, access control and CCTV systems).

This also covers accreditation for ISO 9000 2001 for which the company was one of the first in the industry to meet the standard.

Furthermore, Keyways is also one of the original members of the Northern Master Locksmiths Association, and the founder member of the National Association of Security Installation Companies (NASIC).

Upgrading traditional mechanical doors

PegaSys – the latest development in wireless intelligent access control from Ingersoll Rand – provides an instant and cost-effective way to upgrade traditional mechanical doors into a fully electronically-controlled access system.

The system is designed to provide a simple solution to common access control and key management problems, such as replacing cylinders when keys are lost, unauthorised key duplication and the ability to audit user access.

PegaSys is said to be an easy-to-manage system aimed at site managers who wish to improve the security and control of their premises, but who are unable to commit to a significant investment or who do not want the inconvenience of having to replace existing doors.

It provides many of the benefits of a networked hard-wired access control system in terms of its functionality, flexibility, control and security, but “at a fraction of the cost”.

Users are able to select a level of complexity to suit their environment and access control needs. Not only is the system simple but it’s also flexible, allowing end users to adapt and expand their solution in accordance with changing requirements.

Furthermore, to reduce implementation costs and inconvenience, the PegaSys system is retrospectively compatible with existing technologies and credentials such that sites already using systems like Mifare Classic or Legic can be easily adapted.

Typical applications for PegaSys

The PegaSys intelligent locking system is specifically designed for hospital, university, leisure, airport, industrial or commercial building environments. Whether there is one door or thousands on a single site or on multiple sites, it can provide a solution to meet every contingency.

The innovative system means that users can focus on their core responsibility of running their business or their facility with total peace of mind.
