Installer breaks record at theatre

The Merseyside entertainment venue has undergone a radical GB pound 10.4M facelift.

Solid State equipped the building with a range of systems including fire alarm, voice alarm/public address, CCTV/intruder, access control and disability equipment.

The 800-seat theatre has its own foyer, bars and lounge. It adjoins 765m2 of multi-purpose conference, meetings and events space.

It now hosts a huge number of events including musical theatre, concerts, dance, award ceremonies and exhibitions.

Communication throughout the building is via SigNET Integrity voice alarm/public address system.

At the heart of the system are racks of amplifiers, housed in a specially designed communication room and connected to speakers throughout the auditoria, dressing rooms, foyers and VIP lounges.

As well as being used in emergency evacuation of the site in a fire or crisis situation, the voice alarm and paging system is used for alerting actors that they are due on stage, backstage messages, alerting the audience to the show starts and providing background music.

Solid State is a leading specialist electrical installer with over 30 years’ experience in design, installation and maintenance of fire detection, voice alarm and PA systems.

Colin Shaw, the engineer who supervised the project, said: “Audio installations are never straightforward particularly in an entertainment venue as the sound levels and quality must be perfect.

Working to tight deadlines is also challenging but ultimately rewarding when the project is completed on time.”
