Growth driver
Martin Jefferson is a senior business unit manager for AV products, and part of Western Digital’s European management team, with particular experience of managing hard drive adoption in the consumer electronics and security business segments.
Martin joined WD in 2004, in the role of Senior Business Unit Manager. A key highlight was taking part in the introduction of WD’s first 2.5-inch hard drive. Since joining the company, he has seen sales of the EMEA Consumer Electronics and AV business unit grow to 50 per cent market share.
Prior to joining WD, Martin worked at Xyratex, the leading provider of enterprise-class data storage and infrastructure solutions. He established a new business unit that focused on restoring defective components and selling on to a network of VARs.
IT background
Martin joined the IT industry at IBM in 1976, where he held a variety of roles with an electro-mechanical engineering bias. During 1991, while working in R&D, he was involved in the creation of the very first MR head at IBM that lead to the world’s first 1 GB hard drive.
Martin’s own personal contribution and relentless commitment to the advancement of technology has secured his position in the hard drive industry as an authoritative voice.
