London Fraud Forum: the fifth Annual Conference

GB pound 38 billion: that’s the amount of cash the National Fraud Authority estimates acts of fraud to be costing the United Kingdom.

“By anyone’s standards this is a huge sum of money,” said Alan Day, chairman of the London Fraud Forum, “and, as we know, fraud is no longer limited to large businesses but affects all members of society.”

Indeed, it’s the vulnerable among us who are most likely to be the target of fraudsters, and on whom fraud has the biggest and most serious social impact.

That being the case, it really is up to fraud professionals to work harder and smarter to counter the risk – working together with Government, other public sector organisations, the private sector, the voluntary sector, law enforcement, SMEs and individuals.

Only by working together will we be able to defeat the fraudster. As Edmund Burke once famously said: “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

Fifth Annual Conference of the London Fraud Forum

On that basis, Alan Day and his colleagues would like to invite all interested parties to attend the fifth Annual Conference of the London Fraud Forum.

“It’s our continued objective,” asserted Day, “to bring together businesses and organisations from both the public and private sectors and combine forces in tackling this growing threat from fraud head on. The best way to do this is by actively sharing knowledge, ideas and experiences.”

Once again, the organisers have skilfully managed to put together a programme that focuses on many of the key issues currently facing all practitioners from across the whole spectrum of the anti-fraud community, providing important updates on the latest developments and trends in existing frauds.

In addition to some excellent keynote speakers, this year’s event – for which Info4Security.com and SMT Online are acting as Official Media Partners – provides “something to interest everyone”, with new topics such as counterfeit currency (an increasing risk in the run-up to London 2012) and a focus on fraudulent identity documents among them.

The conference is an ideal opportunity for existing London Fraud Forum members to meet and network with fellow anti-fraud practitioners whom they may have met at previous events, and at the same time affords a very useful introduction for new members to the work of the organisation and the benefits of joining.

Last year’s Annual Conference was a sell-out, with over 250 people attending. In truth, the organisers had to turn people away. In short, it’s best not to delay booking your place.

The conference delegate fee (at only GB pound 150+vat) includes a year’s membership of the London Fraud Forum, and thus represents extremely good value for money. More of the booking details anon.

In a message to the readers of Info4Security.com and SMT Online, Alan Day said: “We very much hope you will to want to join your fellow anti-fraud professionals from the London region and outside and nsure that we continue to combine all our efforts in strengthening the fight against financial crime. I look forward to meeting you at the conference, and during the course of the coming year.”
