Mobotix supplies CCTV system for Maltese farmers
Ta’Qali Producers Group, an association which represents the interest of farmers in Malta, has had 24-hour monitoring installed at two retail outlets, a grading station and a 7,000 square foot warehouse with an adjoining farmers market.
Fitted by Mediterranean Protection Solutions and local subcontractor AB Installations, structured cabling, switches and cameras provide internal and external coverage across the sites.
Helping farmers sell produce securely across Malta
Each camera is accessible over a broadband link and monitored at night by Mediterranean Protection Solutions security staff.
Founded in 2007, Ta’Qali Producers Group (TQPG) was set up to help farmers across Malta improve the quality and presentation of Maltese products with the main objective of selling directly to the consumer.
With both Maltese government and EU assistance, the Group helps more than 500 farmers sell produce to local buyers including consumers, supermarkets and small market stall holders.
“CCTV was an early consideration when we opened our first retail outlet,” Peter Axisa, chief executive and co-founder of the Group, said. “It is vital that we protect our staff, customers and premises while keeping our operational costs as low as possible.”
Improving customer service
The cameras have also been used to settle customer disputes.
“We had a situation where a customer felt she was given back the wrong change,” Axisa said. “The quality of the camera was so high that we were able to discover that there had been an error and rectified the situation.
“The implementation of CCTV has been a success and we will be working with Mediterranean Protection Solutions and MOBOTIX for our future retail outlets.”
