NCipher, the leading developer of security products for e-commerce and public key infrastructure (PKI) applications, has developed faster versions of its nForce and nShield hardware security devices along with support for the industry-standard network management protocol SNMP.
nCipher’s nForce family meets the performance and security requirements for handling high volumes of secure connections in a Web server environment. By offloading the heavy processing demands associated with Secure Sockets Layer transactions from the host server to the nForce 400, throughput can now be increased by a factor of 20 or more. This alleviates the need for additional servers, while reducing the overall response time for users accessing the website.
Since the majority of websites use Secure Sockets Layer transactions to secure the transfer of confidential information such as personal information and credit card details, protecting the Web server’s cryptographic keys inside the nForce device – rather than exposing them on the server – eliminates the risk of eavesdropping and ‘spoofing’.
nCipher is quick to point out that nForce devices are fully-interoperable with all leading Web server software – including Microsoft, iPlanet and Apache – providing a fully-scalable solution to meet the future demands of high growth e-businesses.
