New owners at Guardian and Dedicated Micros

Independent physical security specialist The Guardian Group has been bought out by Duncan Horton, who is about to stand down as managing director of GB pound 10 million-turnover locking systems manufacturer Assa.
Horton developed Assa from a small branch office with just 14 employees, but has been attracted both by Guardian’s position as Assa/Abloy’s leading distributor, and by its strong customer portfolio.
Speaking to SMT about the private deal, Horton stressed that his major aim is to create a sales-driven business environment that will successfully promote many of Guardian’s exclusive brands, including Sistec, Kaso, Rotalok and Gardex.

  • Dedicated Micros, the Manchester-based security equipment manufacturer, has announced a change in ownership of the business.
The announcement follows company founder Mike Newton’s decision to buy back the 36% stake in DM sold to investment firm 3i in December 1997. The new deal ensures that Newton is the overall shareholder in the DM Group.
