PM to chair Chief Ministers’ internal security meet
The next conference of Chief Ministers on internal security will be held in New Delhi on Tuesday. The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, will inaugurate the Conference.
The conference will review the security situation in the country and focus on other wide-ranging issues related to internal security, such as filling up of vacancies against the sanctioned strength of police forces and strengthening of counter-terrorism capabilities.
That apart, the conference will also discuss strengthening of the intelligence wing; economic offences; implementation of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS); police reforms; coastal security; border management and Left Wing Extremism (LWE). A separate session will deal with LWE issues.
The conference would also review the action taken on the recommendations of the last Chief Ministers’ Conference held on February 7, 2010.
