Secom launches High Security Division

The engineers are from Secom’s newly-launched High Security Division, which caters for prestige contracts requiring particularly high service levels. The new division will build on Secom’s recent successes in the police sector, where its systems secure a number of important sites and its engineers are poised to respond to any system problems.

Managing director Minoru Takezawa feels the potential severity of modern threats to public security necessarily means that the police and other emergency services increasingly need to operate from well secured premises.

Catering for existing and new clients

“We are now extending our resources to ensure the appropriate high levels of service demanded by our clients is assured,” suggested Takezawa. “At the same time, we are looking to prove ourselves with other high profile customers in both the public and private sectors.”

Takezawa concluded: “For us, the launch of the new High Security Division represents a fresh opportunity to work towards our company philosophy of building a safer society.”

Headed up by regional operations manager Derek Benham and project manager Terry Taylor, and based at Secom’s Hainault offices, the new division consists of highly experienced, multi-skilled installation and service engineers.

Benham commented: “Each engineer is fully competent on CCTV, access control and IP-signalled intruder alarm systems, and each has been individually vetted by the police. The team is on 24-hour standby to respond to any difficulty with any of the systems at the contract sites.”

The London 2012 Challenge

Takezawa believes that, given the expected influx of visitors in 2012, London in particular must ensure the highest security for the emergency services’ key sites so that they in turn can adequately protect citizens and visitors adequately. Secom has already been appointed to secure Metropolitan Police Service sites at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 and at the new St Pancras International Station.

“Since then, we have been awarded contracts for several other Metropolitan Police sites, providing routine and emergency maintenance and system upgrades where necessary,” explained the managing director. “We have also set up a direct link between the Metropolitan Police Service and our Alarm Receiving Centre so there can be instant communication in the event of a security breach.”
