The new department will be focused on augmenting the association’s income by taking responsibility of SAMI events and publications, and producing other tailored products for members.
Peter Cook, founder of SAMI said, “The fiscal demands of growing the Association and keeping pace with the cost of expanding staff, services and capability in order to better serve our members are beyond the reach of the revenue projections that modest membership fees and donations can sustain.
“The Security Association for the Maritime Industry was established to create standards and checks, while bridging the divide between shipping and security. SAMI Trading is a natural extension of those original aims and will carry out activities that are inappropriate for a “not-for-profit” trade association.”
