‘Security Demands Innovation’: report on the ASC Business Club Seminar
The meeting focused on the theme: ‘Security Demands Innovation’ and was sponsored by Nedap (itself a solutions-oriented, knowledge-based organisation operational in the sphere of security management).
Following a welcome and introduction from the ASC’s chairman Roy Sutherland, Mohammed Jouied (of ActivIdentity) gave the first presentation of the day which was all about authentication and identity management.
Jouied offered salient information about how the trend towards connecting physical and logical security is driving technological development and the application for day-to-day endpoint security enforcement, together with details on card encryption standards.
Jon Busby from Human Recognition Systems offered a discourse regarding the current status of biometrics in security, talking in particular on the subject of IP software that may be integrated across all biometric platforms and thus ensure unbiased and reliable recommendations.
Nick Holmes and Noel Hutchinson from Lineartron then explored the value of integrating on the IP network. As a company, Lineartron provide digital communication solutions for business.
Daryn Flynn from Nedap then gave his much-awaited presentation entitled ‘Unifying Ssecurity systems…it’s only software!’
Flynn talked about integration of security solutions on a single platform and how ‘one controller fits all’.
Following a lively question and answer session, Roy Sutherland thanked all of those who attended, and Nedap for sponsoring the event.
Sutherland also reminded the audience that the next ASC Business Club Seminar would be held on Wednesday 13 April.
Looking ahead to Consec 2011
Other forthcoming ASC events include Consec (the organisation’s International Conference and Exhibition, which is scheduled for Thursday 3 November at the Royal Air Force Museum, Hendon.
A buffet luncheon and drinks concluded the latest Business Club Seminar, giving ASC members and their guests an excellent opportunity to network on an informal basis.
The ASC organises a number of prominent events during the year of importance to both ASC members and others interested in security issues and technical innovations.
