They will focus on the changing world of intruder alarm and CCTV installation and response. These changes include the phasing in over the next year of the new European intruder alarm standard, EN 50131-1, which will introduce major changes in the way premises are risk assessed.
Also on the agenda will be the new British Standard for detector activated CCTV Systems, BS 8418, and the accompanying ACPO policy appendix, which have opened the way for police response to CCTV, and have the potential to lead to a major reduction in false alarms.
The seminars take place on 19 October (South East: Reigate Manor Hotel, Surrey), 20 October (Midlands: Arden Hotel, Solihull), and 21 October (North: Britannia Country House Hotel, Manchester).

A new training package for CCTV control centres has been launched in Wales.
Called Assure, its aim is to raise training, operational and skills standards, and to create a recognised accreditation scheme for anyone involved in CCTV, including police, local authorities, and retail, industrial and security sectors.
The programme has been designed to ensure there is a safe and clear, quality assured ‘audit trail’ for CCTV evidence, between the time an offender is filmed, and his or her appearance in court.
It is an ongoing course, spread over 11 different modules, and will lead to a Vocational Recognised Qualification.
While it is initially targeted at Wales, it is recognised by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service through the NSI’s Silver Award scheme, and may be used UK-wide.
