Sir Robert Fulton KBE: the new president of Corps Security

Lieutenant General Sir Robert Fulton KBE succeeds Lieutenant General Sir Henry Beverley KCB OBE, who now leaves the organisation after 15 years in the role.

An Old Etonian, Sir Robert’s distinguished military career began in 1972 when he joined the Royal Marines.

In a military career spanning 34 years, he commanded 42 Commando and 3 Commando Brigade before being appointed Commandant General Royal Marines in 1998.

He left the Armed Forces in 2006 as the Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff for Equipment Capability.

In 2006, Sir Robert was appointed to be the 63rd Governor of Gibraltar and returned to UK in 2009.

Prestigious history of the company

Commenting on his new appointment, Sir Robert said: “Having served as a trustee since 2010, I’m now delighted to be able to carry on the fine work of Sir Henry Beverley in the role of president. Corps Security’s prestigious history is a source of great pride to all who work for the organisation, and we will continue to ensure that dedication, integrity and the pursuit of excellence is at the heart of what we do.”

Having served as Commandant General of the Royal Marines between 1990 and 1994, Sir Henry joined Corps Security in 1996.

On his departure he said: “The last 15 years have been an exciting time for all at Corps Security and I take great satisfaction in leaving the company in such a healthy position.”

Corps Security’s chief executive Peter Webster added: ‘It has been our immense privilege to have Sir Henry as our president, and I would like to thank him for his work during his tenure. We welcome Sir Robert to his new role, and very much look forward to working with him and drawing on his vast knowledge and experience.”

Focused and specialist expertise

Corps Security uses its focused and specialist expertise to ensure the security, safety and well-being of many of the UK’s leading businesses and organisations.

Established 152 years ago, Corps Security is one of the oldest and best respected commercial suppliers of security services, offering a wide range of specialist solutions which cover every aspect of threat reduction and business protection.

Originally established to provide gainful employment for injured ex-servicemen returning from the Crimean War, the company’s ethos of caring for ex-soldiers, sailors and airmen continues today, with a high percentage of the workforce having previously served within the Armed Forces.

This rather unique history “sets Corps Security apart from mainstream security providers”.

However, it’s the company’s modern and innovative approach to service design and delivery which has seen it grow to become recognised as one of the UK’s market leaders.

Corps Security adds Emizon to signalling partners portfolio

Corps Security has announced that its Corps Monitoring Centre (CMC) is now using Emizon’s state-of-the-art Telemetry Communications Device (TCD) to simplify and speed up installation, while providing customers with a reliable and uninterrupted service.

The TCD establishes a secure ‘always on’ IP connection to the CMC using IP as the primary fixed or wired network and GPRS as the secondary wireless path. With the GPRS/PSTN option, GPRS is used as the primary and PSTN as the secondary path.

A key feature of Emizon’s TCD is its ability to auto-activate, which means that when powered up it’s instantly ready for testing at the CMC.

Also, if the power goes down at a customer’s premises, rather than having to ask an engineer to visit the site to reconfigure the unit, the auto-activate feature does this as part of the powering up procedure.

With Emizon’s online diagnostics, installers also have the ability to update the TCD firmware remotely as soon as it is available. The firmware meets the latest insurance requirements including catastrophic failure reporting, which aims to safeguard premises against the relatively new phenomena of GSM signal blocking.

Making life easier for on-site engineers

Bob Tuck, managing director of Emizon, explained: “The TCD’s central management capability makes life easier for the engineer on site, the operator in the response centre and for alarm and CCTV installation companies wanting to streamline their operations and resources. It also provides customers with a best in class solution which offers unparalleled peace of mind.”

This latest announcement is part of Corps Security’s ongoing commitment to using the most up-to-date technology for providing customers with the highest quality service.

The company is now able to offer a unique security solution encompassing both physical and electronic capabilities.

Eric Roberts, Corps Security’s CMC business development director in Glasgow, commented: “I’m delighted with the new features that Emizon is now offering which fully complements our existing range of services in alarm and CCTV monitoring. Our determination to offer an unrivalled level of service using the best technology possible gives us a truly independent, third-party facility that we feel is the best of its kind in the UK.”
