Tavcom signs partnership deal to supply SITO training

SITO has chosen Tavcom Training as its preferred supplier of security systems training in England. The training organisation has begun an accreditation process that will enable Tavcom’s CCTV, Sales and Surveying, and Products and Services courses to be issued with SITO certificates.
Tavcom is also holding discussions with SITO on delivering some of SITO’s current training courses, as well as distributing some of its range of training resources. The company has been offering training to the security systems sector since 1995, and is an Edexcel accredited training centre, becoming the first security training company to be approved to offer BTEC certified courses.
Tavcom also offers training certificates endorsed by SITO, IPSA and ISEC and has developed a wide range of security systems training. It is also the preferred supplier of training to the ECA and Career Transition Partnership.
Stefan Hay, SITO spokesman, said the partnership with Tavcom is a “perfect match of consistent high quality” in establishing national occupational standards and developing industry training and qualifications.
SITO’s courses cover the manned security services, retail and leisure security, parking, fire alarms, intruder alarm engineering, CCTV/Access control, investigation and transportation of property under guard. TAVCOM offers courses in the selection, installation, operation and maintenance of all types of security systems, including CCTV, access control and intruder alarms.
Tavcom’s director of training, Mike Tennent, said Tavcom shared and supported SITO’s aims to promote and provide “first class and universally recognised training in every sector of the security industry. “

  • The South East Security Co-operative (SESCO) is extending its Modern Apprenticeship Scheme to CCTV. Engineers undergoing the scheme incur no training costs and can gain a City & Guilds 1851 qualification. The course will use equipment donated by Alan Lefford, CCTV business development manager at Philips.
With the college year not far away, companies considering training their own ‘home grown’ engineers should contact Sarah Wise at SITO ( 01905 20004). Any queries can be clarified by contacting the SESCO chairman on 0208 556 1000 or email: [email protected]
