The Threat Within: Internal Fraud and Employee Crime

Delivering the highest standards of safety and security through rigorous vetting. Spearheading an effective whistleblowing strategy. Establishing essential internal and external partnerships to combat fraud. Creating a security-conscious enterprise ‘inside out’ and ‘outside in’. Mitigating critical security risks through Best Practice and compliance.

If you are looking to master internal security within your organisation, ‘The Threat Within: Combating Internal Fraud and Employee Crime’ is the must-attend conference for you as it covers all of these themes in great detail.

Organised by Security Management Today and chaired by its multi-award winning Editor, Brian Sims, the event takes place at the Earls Court Conference Centre on Wednesday 5 December and features a first class line-up of speakers from right across the sector.

The KeyNote Speaker is Sharon Kerr, commander of the Serious Crime Directorate with the Metropolitan Police Service. Kerr will be followed by Nick van der Bijl (Trust security manager for the North Bristol NHS Trust) who examines the internal threat to organisations, and the lessons learned to date that might help transform security policies for the better.

Prior to the first Q&A Session of the day, Guy Mathias (associate director of UK security at Huntingdon Life Sciences) examines the implementation of rigorous pre-employment vetting and screening regimes.

Donna Alexander (personnel protection manager within the Group Security Department at Barclays) defines an ongoing employment vetting strategy, while barrister Adrian Maxwell explains how to combat internal fraud.

Post-luncheon, Alan Day (senior audit and investigations manager at Transport for London) outlines partnering with the workforce as a way of minimising internal fraud, while Dan Hooton (group security advisor: operations at the Prudential) reviews how to ensure your employees do not become the unsuspecting victims of social engineering.

Mitigating risks through Best Practice is the subject of JP Morgan senior vice-president Don Randall’s delivery. The Post Office’s head of security, John Scott, looks at spearheading a targeted whistleblowing policy and, to close the day, runs a panel discussion with Postcomm’s chief investigation officer Derek Webster.
