Wireless systems in the House

  • Wireless communications

Multitone Electronics has won a GB pound 250,000 contract to install DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) wireless telephony and text messaging systems in 30 House of Fraser department stores throughout the UK.
The contract includes kitting out the flagship Oxford Street branch in central London.
In a bid to streamline security management, the portable handset-driven DECT system will deliver automatic text messages to security officers and selected members of staff in the wake of passive alarm systems being triggered.
The House of Fraser system is based on Multitone’s CS600 cordless technology, which can accommodate anything up to 128 users and be connected to most PABX networks.
In operation, each telephone conversation would be channelled through a base station, providing up to 300m of coverage.
