Flussonic launches Flussonic Coder for super-energy-efficient video streaming

Video streaming specialist Flussonic has launched a server that transcodes, repacks, records, delivers and secures video content.

Available this autumn, Flussonic Coder simultaneously transcodes dozens of 4K, Full HD and SD channels, converts formats, and protects, archives and delivers video streams.

The Flussonic transcoder is built on the Flussonic Media Server platform.

Vertical sectors

Pitched at telecom and cable operators, ISPs, and broadcasting and streaming services, including streaming platforms for user-generated game content.

Features

  • Predictable density and processes a specified number of channels
  • Cutting-edge graphic accelerators equip 1RU servers to simultaneously transcode up to 48 FULL HD programmes in multi-bit-rate streams for adaptive streaming
  • Energy consumption of just 120 watts – 10 times less than rival products – is achieved, says Flussonic, without compromising functionality or performance

Flussonic says

“Of course, customers have the ability to build their own servers and install the Flussonic software or other similar products on their own, but the associated costs would be higher or similar in comparison to an off-the-shelf transcoder, and the assembly quality is likely to be inferior,” said Maksim Lapshin, Flussonic founder and technical director. “Unlike such DIY solutions, our product comes with a full package of technical support, configuring and maintenance services.”
