Video surveillance developer IDIS has received a National Productivity Award in a competition sponsored by the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Run by the Korea Productivity Center at COEX, Seoul, the 42nd National Productivity Competition effectively provides government endorsement of organisations and individuals that have enhanced productivity with positive commercial outcomes.
The Korea-headquartered company won the accolade in recognition of IDIS Smart Factory, which harnesses big data to modularise and refine production processes according to customers’ specific requirements. From material warehousing and component assembly to function tests and packaging, it computerises every stage of production of IDIS Total Solution, an end-to-end, single source, plug-and-play video surveillance system.
Teal-time production planning, cause-of-defect analysis and tracking were achieved by analysing process histories.
IDIS says the system reliably filters out defects during production too. If a particular unit is missing materials or fails a functionality test it is removed from production.
IDIS has reported a boost in productivity and efficiency since launching the system.
The judges responsible for deciding the award winners also noted the company’s significant success and market share in the global security and surveillance market.
“It is rewarding to see the IDIS Smart Factory, which has taken years of effort to build, receive this prize,” said IDIS CEO YD Kim. “Recognised as a leader in Korea’s fourth industrial revolution, IDIS will continue to strive to be the best global video surveillance manufacturer, deepening our impact in the industry through our advancements in the application of artificial intelligence to our technology solutions.”
