In the first of three videos below, apprentices in the fire and security industry enthuse about the value of apprenticeships as an alternative to simply learning on the job or going to university. The apprentices were taking part in Engineers of Tomorrow (EoT), an engineering competition that took place at London ExCeL in June during IFSEC 2018. It’s this competition that the second video focuses on.
Overall EoT heat winners and their employers are invited to the Security & Fire Excellence Awards, next taking place at London Hilton on Park Lane on 21 November 2018. Cash prizes are awarded to the overall winners (£1,000), runners-up (£500) and for third place (£300). The winners also earn NVQ portfolio credits.
Engineers of Tomorrow stakeholders are CSL, NSI, SSAIB and Skills for Security, while the initiative is also supported by the FSA, FIA and BAFE.
The competition gave rise to Apprentices for Fire and Security (A4FS), which has helped launch the careers of thousands of young apprentices in the fire and security sectors. A third video below focuses on the initiative.
