Taking place on 13 September at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, the FIA has revealed what’s in store for attendees at this year’s Fire Industry Manufacturers (FIM) Expo and its conference, which follows a day later on 14 September.
22 manufacturers will be on-hand to meet and network with, while the event is also designed to provide an opportunity for attendees to build business relationships with new and existing clients.
Education sessions will be delivered by a combination of the FIA’s technical team and its members over the course of the morning. Topics will include wireless fire detection, documentation and special inspection, and the differences between commercial and residential.
A buffet lunch will be available from 12:00, while a post evening drinks reception will take place in the South Stand Lounge between 15:30-17:00. Finally, the FIA will be providing a stadium tour for event delegates, which will take place at 09:00 on a first come, first served basis.

FIA reveals conference line-up to follow FIM on 14 September
Set to take place at the Principality Stadium on Wednesday 14 September following the FIM Expo, the FIA has revealed its conference line-up, set to delve into how the fire safety industry has changed in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
The conference, titled ‘In a World Post the Grenfell Tower Tragedy – What has Changed?’, will focus on the developments the industry has made in the wake of the events of 14 June 2017, and will examine how best to move forward.
Speaker highlights include the South Wales Chief Fire Officer Huw Jakeway as the keynote speaker, delivering a presentation from the perspective of the Fire and Rescue Service. The conference will also contain presentations from industry experts such as Iain Bowker on the impact of the Fire Safety Act and the Building Safety Act on Fire Risk Assessment and the Fire and Rescue service. In addition, FIA CEO Ian Moore will be presenting on the Building Safety Information Portal, while the FIA’s Technical Manager Will Lloyd will present on Documentation and Special Inspection.
The conference will contain a host of CPD seminars from FIA members, Advanced Electronics, C-TEC, Tio Fire Safety and Aico. These seminars will cover a range of topics including emergency lighting, BS 5839 Part 6 Grade C, digital logbooks and remote access to data.
