Genetec and FST Biometrics have announced a strategic partnership which will see Genetec deploy biometric identification as part of its access control software platform.
FST Biometrics’ technology combines facial recognition and body behaviour analytics.
Genetec, which manufactures open-platform, unified internet protocol (IP) security software, will integrate FST Biometric’s motion identification technology into its Security Center IP security platform which is used to manage physical access to facilities.
Customers using Security Center will still be able to use their existing security set up but now have the option of including component that will improve their facilities’ security by admitting people based on their biometric profile as they approach access points.
Arie Melamed, chief marketing officer of FST Biometrics, based in Israel, said: “The integration of IMID into the Security Center ecosystem means that users will be identified by who they are, not what they carry – all without breaking their stride or slowing down.”
With this integration, Security Center users can receive real-time alerts such as when unauthorized or blacklisted visitors try to enter a facility.
FST Biometrics’ IMID technology’s database integrates with the existing Security Center database, eliminating the need to re-enter authorised users’ information.
Based in Montréal, Canada Genetec’s flagship product, Security Center, unifies IP-based video surveillance, access control and automated license plate recognition (ALPR) into one platform. Clients include enterprise and government organizations via a network of resellers and integrators
