Case study

Residents at historic St Paul’s Square receive updated door entry and access solution

Residents in a historic housing block in the centre of London have had the latest security systems installed including a video door entry system and access control solutions.

Those living in the nine block development of 85 apartments and maisonettes at St Paul’s Square, located in the iconic 201 St John Street, also benefit from an underground car park and a day porter.

ComelitPac-StPaulsSquare-23The door entry system from Comelit-PAC that has been installed includes a digital panel, alongside nine secondary bespoke video panels to accommodate the different blocks within the development.

Janet Topham, Resident Director of St Pauls, said: “The building’s façade dates back to 1828 with the rear section added in the late 19th Century. Any updates to the security on site have to been installed sensitively in line with the historic ambience of the building.

“We have put our trust in our long term working relationship with Greywood to specify to achieve these objectives whilst still offering latest door entry and access control technology for our residents.”

Greywood installed Comelit-PAC’s dedicated Simplekey advanced system. It includes one digital panel with prox cut-out to the main entrance of the building, plus nine secondary bespoke video panels to gain access to each development.

Each apartment block has been fitted with mini hands-free monitors, allowing visual door entry operating through its specialist SimpleBus 2-Wire solution. The combination presents residents with smart capability to answer access requests remotely and manage home access.

Benefits of retrofit and bespoke solutions

Richard Bowden Brown, Operations Director at Greywood, added: “The benefit of using Comelit-PAC is the retrofit benefits, where we could reuse existing cabling to install the bespoke video panels for the development.

“At St Paul’s Square, this made it a simple and quick system to deploy, and it was all completed in just eight days.

“The result is a complete upgrade of the door entry systems and access control for the benefit of residents, installed with minimal disruption and with no compromise to the historic style on site.”

Gareth Van Der Merwe, Comelit-PAC Business Development Manager for South East region, said: “What our long term relationship with Greywood demonstrates is our preferred approach to working with clients, in true partnership.

“This ensures we can become the first port of call to support bespoke specification and design in projects such as St Paul’s Square, to enabling a smooth installation process and the delivery of a complete solution for access control and door entry.”
