Integrated thinking: Connected security for smart infrastructure

Attracted by SaaS solution, Vanderbilt confirms acquisition of Access Control Technology Ltd

Vanderbilt has finalised the acquisition of Access Control Technology (ACT) Ltd.

ACT’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution is thought to have been a particular attraction to Vanderbilt as it strengthens its portfolio further following its acquisition last year of Siemens Security Products. An integrated, cloud-based access control and video management software solution, ACT365 offers Vanderbilt and its channel partners a new stream of recurring revenue. Users of ACT365 can manage system administration and management from anywhere, at any time and on any device.

ACT’s product line also brings ACTpro, an access control system, and ACTenterprise, a video management solution, into the Vanderbilt stable.

Vanderbilt will benefit from ACT’s share of the UK and Ireland markets and be able to introduce the ACT brand, which was founded in 1995, to the North American market.

“The ACT business is a strategic fit with the Vanderbilt brand, capitalising on its strong, profitable business in the UK and Ireland,” said Joe Grillo, CEO of Vanderbilt. “The addition of an integrated access control and video platform is a logical step in the direction of growing our business on an international scale in the areas of access control, video and intrusion.

“Hosted, cloud-based systems are gaining in popularity in the security arena, becoming the logical way forward in future-proofing a facility’s security posture.”

Financial details of the transaction were not released.
