CLD Fencing Systems has launched the first temporary fencing system that meets the police-preferred specification (PPS) standard.FenceSafe SR1 becomes the 13th perimeter security system developed by the specialist in rigid mesh fencing and security gates to make the grade.
PPS was developed by the Secured by Design (SBD) initiative, which helps a range of stakeholders – like specifiers, architects and manufacturers – ‘design out crime’ at the design and planning stage of construction projects and security products.
The SBD logo is hard won: products must be subjected to vigorous testing and auditing by an accredited third-party organisation.
In another world first, FenceSafe SR1 is also accredited as an LPS 1175 security-rated temporary fencing system. This guarantees a minimum delay against physical attack, by a range of tools, of at least 60 seconds.
Standing 2.4 metres tall, the system can be installed without foundations, courtesy of CLD Fencing Systems’ patented cantilever FenceSafe base, which conforms to BS EN 1991 for wind loading. As such, it can be rapidly deployed, yet, as its various accreditations attest, is effectively as secure as a permanent fence.
Anti-climb panels – 76.2mm x 12.5mm mesh apertures – can be fitted to deter scaling. The company’s SafeTFix hidden fixing system, meanwhile, negates the need for external fixings to the attack face.
FenceSafe SR1 is manufactured to ISO 9001:2015 and conforms to BS 1722 part 14 for open mesh steel panel fences.
A 15 year manufacturers’ guarantee against defects completes the package.

CLD Fencing designs, manufactures and supplies rigid mesh fencing systems and security gates to critical infrastructure like airports, energy/utilities and oil and gas as well as schools, sports stadia and data centres.

SBD has partnered with the Home Office, Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government and the Police Service as well as local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers.
It also collaborates with standards and certification bodies to ensure publicly available standards meet the needs of both the police and general public.
One million homes have already been built to SBD standards with reductions in crime achieved of up to 87%.
