The Fire Industry Association (FIA) is working with training provider Tall Building Fire Safety Network to offer those tasked with the fire safety management of tall buildings an in-depth training course.
The Tall Buildings Fire Safety Management course is a five-day intensive programme designed to cover all aspects of the management process. Each day is themed, covering prevention, detection and alarm, means of escape, fire containment and finishing with firefighting and BCP.
Building fire case studies, alongside the most common ignition hazards are also reviewed and analysed.
Delegates receive a comprehensive set of notes and documents that are said to represent a significant learning resource for future use. The qualification available with the course requires completion of a short test and delegate assignments to complete after the training.
The course is delivered by Tall Building Fire Safety Network, run by Russ Timpson – who also coordinates the Tall Buildings Fire Safety Conference which takes place at FIREX in London each year. It is a fully approved training provider for Skills for Justice, and the course is recognised by the Institution of Fire Engineers.
The course is designed for tall building managers, supervisors, security managers, facility managers, health and safety managers, insurance surveyors, fire risk assessors, and firefighters.
Learning outcomes:
Skills for Justice approved qualification
Recognised qualification with the Institution of fire engineers
30 hours of CPD
Over 500 delegates have undertaken the course since launched in 2004. Delegate feedback includes: “The training has definitely helped me get up to speed quickly by going into more detail about vast subjects that I already had knowledge of, however would not necessarily have been able to go into as much detail with when discussing with a client why certain fire protection measures should be in place.
“Listening to Russ, and all the guest speakers who delivered the training from Tall Buildings Fire Safety, who are experts in their field and were brilliant, provided very interesting information. Thank you to those who made this programme possible, I really enjoyed the week!”
