The Fire Industry Association (FIA) is inviting fire safety professionals to join it at the inaugural Fire Summit in Cyprus, a one-day conference and exhibition in October.
The event, taking place on 19 October, also signifies the official launch of FIA Cyprus.
Being held in Nicosia at the State Fair Exhibition Centre, the FIA Fire Summit is a free one-day conference integrated with an exhibition. It will be centred around four pivotal topics:
Best practices in high-rise buildings
The future of fire safety
The challenges and solutions for the Fire Rescue Services
The role of competence
The event and presentations will feature leaders from UK and Cypriot companies. Each seminar is CPD-accredited by the FIA.
Why FIA Cyprus?
Two major incidents recently in Cyprus, a fire at a hotel in Protaras and another at a recycling centre, have narrowly avoided turning into tragedies. Although no lives were lost, the considerable damage to property and the environment highlight the urgency for enhanced fire safety measures.
The FIA’s General Manager, Adam Richardson, expands on the partnership with Cyprus: “The genesis of our involvement in Cyprus began when we were approached by firms within the Cypriot fire industry. They sought our expertise in elevating professional standards in vital areas such as training, guidance documents, and defining competency for entities and products.
“After extensive discussions spanning two years, we decided to establish a standalone branch in Cyprus, operated by Cypriots for Cypriots. The Fire Summit marks the official inauguration of FIA Cyprus, and will also provide an exceptional platform for FIA UK members to engage with the burgeoning Cypriot fire safety sector.
“Attendees will have the chance to interact with Cypriot Government officials, local fire safety enterprises, and other pertinent entities.”
Cyprus has faced its share of fire safety challenges, reminiscent of the UK’s own experiences. The local government, businesses, and other stakeholders are fervently invested in improving the industry, echoing sentiments seen in the UK.
“Commitment to fostering international relations”
The FIA believes this mutual drive offers a unique opportunity for British and Cypriot firms to collaborate and share invaluable guidance and solutions.
An array of strategic partners and stakeholders have supported and will be contributing to the conference. These include the Cypriot Government, UK Defence Security Exports, British High Commission, Cypriot Fire and Rescue Service, Insurance Association, CERIDES and more.
Asked about future FIA international projects, Richardson adds: “Our two months of in-depth preparatory work in Cyprus exemplifies our commitment to fostering international relations.
“The Fire Summit signifies the onset of what we envision as a series of globally-reaching partnerships. Our objective is to not only uplift fire safety standards but also to strengthen global collaborative networks within the sector.”
Alternatively, if you are a UK exporter in within the fire industry and would like to benefit from what this event has to offer, please visit the FIA website or email [email protected] for more information on exhibiting.
