Whitepaper: Boosting efficiency and streamlining security with an integrated access control solution

No excuses, no delay

WATCH: The hard-hitting video launched for Fire Door Safety Week 2019

Imagine you live in a block of flats.

You repeatedly flag fire safety concerns – and they’re repeatedly ignored.

Since the tragedy at Grenfell Tower in West London, which claimed 72 lives, there’s been a public inquiry (ongoing) and a review of building regulations, from which myriad changes to standards, regulations and enforcement are expected to flow. For many, however, the response from government has still been inadequate.

Furthermore, research from Fire Door Safety Week suggests an alarming number of ‘responsible persons’ – property developers, managers and owners – are still neglecting their obligations even under the existing, flawed regulatory regime. It’s latest study reveals that 56% of care home workers have flagged fire safety concerns and 51% were unhappy with the response.

This neglect is certainly evident with respect to replacing faulty fire doors and specifying compliant fire doors in the first place. An investigation of social housing by Inside Housing found that among the 44 councils that have identified non-compliant or potentially non-compliant doors since March 2018, half are yet to replace a single door.

With this in mind, Fire Door Safety Week has launched the film below showing how it must feel to be so powerless, so utterly incapable of being able to do anything about your own safety.

Launched for Fire Door Safety Week 2019 the film below implores responsible persons to act now and replace faulty fire doors without delay.
