Manchester school upgraded with integrated fire safety solution

Comelit-PAC has been working with partners GB Integrated Systems to fit latest fire safety solutions at Claremont Primary School to ensure the safety of pupils, staff and visitors.

The Manchester based school, part of the Heart of Manchester Partnership, is a ‘thriving’ primary school, with a child-centred ethos. It prides itself on being an ‘outward-looking’ school, ‘actively’ engaging and encouraging interaction with the local community.

To ensure ongoing fire safety, GB Integrated Systems worked with the school to carry out a full risk assessment of the fire safety measures in place. Following the recommendation to upgrade the addressable panels, Comelit-PAC was specified, using its latest LogiFire solution.

Mrs Charlton, School Business Manager at Claremont Primary School: “It is crucial that all our pupils and staff, together with the local community, are safe at our school. This is especially important in relation to fire safety, where we work with the local authority under the guidance of the Department for Education towards the same goals of ensuring a safe environment.

“This means regularly assessing our systems, ensuring they are fit for purpose and compliant. Here, we worked with GB Integrated Systems to evaluate our fire safety plan, following a full Fire Safety risk assessment. They recommended a new fire system that could be installed to seamlessly operate with our fire door détentes, access control and building management system, helping us to monitor activity remotely.”

GB Integrated Systems specified Comelit-PAC’s specialist LogiFire Easy system. The school required a 2-loop system together with detection and AV devices.

Mike Gray, Technical Director at GB Integrated Systems added: ‘Fire safety in schools is incredibly important, to increase the chance of early detection and allow optimal time to evaluate the risk, respond, remediate, and potentially avoid evacuation of pupils, staff and facility damage or loss. The key to minimising the risk is ensuring maintenance checks on a routine basis.

“Claremont School is the perfect example, where we could identify when the upgrade was required. We chose Comelit-PAC’s LogiFire solution because we knew the system could be delivered quickly and installed utilising the existing fire cabling infrastructure. This not only saved us time but minimises the disruption to daily learning timetables and ensures a compliant solution that is designed to seamlessly blend with its surroundings.”

Logifire addressable system, has been designed to offer a simple to install, fire safety solution that is ‘compliant with EN standards’. It is complemented with a new range of detectors, offered with designs to ensure systems ‘blend with their surroundings.

Mandy Bowden, Comelit-PAC Fire Manager concluded: “When it comes to schools, we have a duty of care to every staff member, pupil, and visitor to ensure buildings remain safe and secure. This means working closely within the latest Fire Safety legislation and assessing each school on a bespoke basis to really understand fire safety requirements.

“At Claremont School, the features of LogiFire made it a simple and intelligent way for GB Integrated Systems to install a new fire safety system. We worked through the technical elements of the design process and ensured the system could interface with existing systems on site. It all combines to reduce the installation time, without compromising on the high-quality standards and ultimate protection for all those who attend or work at the school.”
