WATCH: What the ECHO upgrade means for alarm signalling and police response

Infrastructure supporting alarm signalling – the process by which police are notified of potential intruders in residential, public or commercial buildings – is being upgraded for the 21st century.

Called ECHO (Electronic Call Handling Operation), the initiative could improve the process in myriad ways.

Watch the video below to find out what these improvements are. Filmed at IFSEC 2018 it features an interview with Richard Jenkins, CEO of the National Security Inspectorate (NSI), and Dave Wilkinson, director of technical services at the British Security Industry Authority (BSIA).

Jenkins cites a reduction in false alarms already achieved in recent years as an indicator of what improvements the project might yield.
