WATCH: IFSEC Southeast Asia 2018 makes its debut in Bangkok, Thailand

IFSEC Southeast Asia has now completed the second of three days at its inaugural Bangkok edition.

Co-located with POLSEC 2018, a security and policing event, the exhibition kicked off with a keynote from HE Dr Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, on the ‘Integration of Public Sector for Security in Life and Property of the People’.

Manu Leopairote, chairman of UBM Asia (Thailand) Co Ltd, said the show transplanted to Thailand the ingredients that have made IFSEC events such a triumph in the UK, India, South Korea, Philippines and Malaysia. Described as one of the great development success stories by The World Bank, Thailand is one of the ASEAN’s (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) fastest-growing economies, with tourism a particularly strong sector.

The opening ceremony, which was followed by a VIP tour, also featured:

  • Pol. Lt. Gen. Sattavat Hiranburana, Assistant Commissioner General, Royal Thai Police
  • Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President, Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau
  • Pol. Lt. Gen. Aung Win Oo, Chief of Myanmar Police Force
  • Pol. Gen. Lim Thong, Deputy Commissioner General of Cambodian National Police
  • YDH CP Dato’ Tajudin B Md Isa, Director of Strategic Resources and Technology Department (StaRT), Royal Malaysia Police

Panel debates covered “The target group is likely to be cyber-attacked or victimized by cyber and digital crimes”, “Possible damage that can happen to government agencies including the impact on the citizen” and “Prevent & protection arrangements including mitigation measures of government and related agencies”.

Moderated by Major General Prachya Chalermwat, Ph.D. Professional from Office of the Permanent Secretary for Defence, the panelists included:
