OnPoint Electrics has fitted Mul-T-Lock’s vehicle security solution, MVP2000 to its company van, following a break in that resulted in a significant loss of tools.
Jon Dawson at OnPoint Electrics
Jon Dawson of OnPoint Electrics said: “The crime was committed in less than 20 seconds, with my van in full view of obvious CCTV systems, in broad daylight, in front of a busy leisure centre. None of these elements seemed to act as a deterrent.
“The loss of tools for myself and my Apprentice was significant and meant a huge amount of time and resource had to be invested in insurance claims, with the potential loss of work. We had to rely on friends and work colleagues to ensure we could continue to meet customer requirements, whilst we replaced all the tools that were stolen.”
Jon ‘firmly believes’ that if Mul-T-Lock’s MVP2000 had been fitted earlier, it would have been enough to detract the criminal from attempting to access the van. Not only from a visual perspective but also due to its specialist all in one design, with its unique angled lock body and no hanging parts, according to Mul-T-Lock.
Claire Blakemore, Mul-T-Lock UK Managing Director added: “Unfortunately, this is not a unique case, with the increase in van crime well documented. It can take just seconds and often, insurance claims are declined. With living costs rising for everyone, protecting vulnerable tradespeople from losing their means of income is more important than ever before.
“Mul-T-Lock’s MVP2000 is a real solution, that is quick to install and can be fitted to new vehicles or as a retrofit to almost all van types in the UK. Available to bolt onto the surface of any van side or rear door, as well as being a visual deterrent, the clever inter-locking design of the two body parts becoming one, adds an additional layer of protection from manipulation via forced separation. It is easy to use, supplied with secure fixings and offered with built-in security and peace of mind for today’s van owners.”
