FIREX Tech Talks: Baldwin Boxall – Vigil 3 voice alarm system

Baldwin Boxall: Vigil 3 voice alarm system

IFSEC-FIREX-TechTalks-20In this session, Baldwin Boxall examines the benefits of voice alarm systems, a monitored public address system that integrates with a fire detection system to initiate emergency messages throughout the building such as evacuation and alert messages. Here, the company explains how such systems work, and in particular its Vigil 3 voice alarm system, which is third-party certified and tested to EN54 (part 16).

Baldwin Boxall explains the benefits and flexibility of its system, which can be used from small, to large networked projects, in applications such as football stadiums, schools and shopping centres. The team provides an overview of how the voice alarm system works, including design and assembly advice alongside customisation options with its graphical user interface.

Questions covered in the Q&A session included:

  • Could the Vigil 3 be integrated within an existing audio system that already sends out security messages?
  • Why did Baldwin Boxall move away from traditional input and output modules?
  • Why was Vigil 3 developed in the first place? What challenges does it solve?
  • How does Baldwin Boxall handle customised topographical user interfaces such as floorplans?
  • Will integration with other BMS systems become more popular in the fire industry going forwards? And how easy is this with the Vigil 3?
