I4S video: EverFocus expands HD CCTV product range with launch of DVRs and cameras

A global top 20 global professional security equipment manufacturer*, the EverFocus Electronics Corporation has added the new products to its HD CCTV offering in order to deliver “a comprehensive range of groundbreaking HD CCTV surveillance cameras and DVRs” which use the latest High Definition Serial Digital Interface (HD SDI) technology to realise real-time 1080 HD resolution images over standard RG59 coaxial cable.

The company is claiming a first in the UK when it comes to offering a complete HD CCTV ‘plug and play’ system, and states that it’s “at least six months ahead of the competition” with a choice of four HD CCTV cameras and three HD CCTV DVRs added to the range come the end of April 2011.

EverFocus was the first company in the UK to launch a complete HD CCTV system with the introduction of the EPHD08 DVR (offering a true HD CCTV, eight-channel DVR using either 720p/1080p HD resolution recording with H.264 compression) and the EQH5200: a two megapixel, box design indoor camera employing a 1/2.5-inch CMOS sensor to deliver a choice of HD CCTV resolutions (720p/1080i).

EDR HD-4H4 and EDR HD-2H14 in focus

This morning, the company duly extended its HD DVR range with the introduction of the EDR HD-4H4 (an HD-DVR with four HD channels and four standard analogue channels) and the EDR HD-2H14, which offers two HD channels and 14 standard analogue channels.

Both of these models will be available by the end of March.

These ‘hybrid’ HD DVRs are designed to appeal to end user installations where there’s a need to deploy HD only for high risk areas, with standard analogue resolution images acceptable for lower risk areas.

EverFocus has also added significantly to its HD camera range with two new HD domes and an HD infrared (IR) bullet camera.

The EverFocus EDH5240 IR indoor dome and EHH5200 external dome are two megapixel cameras using a 1/2.5 inch CMOS sensor to deliver a choice of HD CCTV resolutions (720p/1080i).

EverFocus is also offering an HD IR bullet camera – the EZH5240 – for outdoor use.

Ease of set-up and operation

For all of EverFocus’ HD cameras, set-up is made simple with an RCA TV output for installation use and an on-screen set-up menu.

All cameras simply connect to a coaxial cable network using a standard BNC connector. All of the new cameras will be available from April, just in time for IFSEC 2011 (which runs at the NEC in Birmingham the following month).

With an estimated 94% of CCTV installations in the UK still using coaxial cable, and growing end user demand for upgrades to the image clarity that HD CCTV offers, EverFocus views the UK as an early adopter marketplace for HD CCTV solutions.

Range of options for installers and end users

Basil Singh – the managing director of EverFocus Electronics UK – dropped by info4security’s Ludgate House hq in London at noon today to demonstrate the new products and chat to us about HD CCTV (see the video at the foot of this article).

Singh told SMT Online’s Editor Brian Sims: “EverFocus was the first to launch a complete HD CCTV system in the UK market, and we’re already building on this with the introduction of two additional HD DVRs and three HD cameras.”

He continued: “We want to provide installers and end users with a range of options to suit the individual needs of their project. The introduction of ‘hybrid’ HD DVRs, which mix HD channels with standard analogue channels, is very much in tune with the needs of the UK market. End users want to use HD only to cover areas where exceptional HD picture quality is crucial. Over cash tills or shop entrances, for example.”

Singh asserted that the company is “seeing growing levels of interest and demand for HD CCTV products. “As a business,” he continued, “we want to see 30% of our sales emanating from HD in 2011.”

In conclusion, Singh stated: “When an end user sees the image quality these products can realise, they’re typically convinced about upgrading, while the installation process is quick and easy for any installer.”

The EverFocus EQH5200 HD CCTV camera carries a recommended retail price of GB pound 399, while the EHDR08 HD CCTV DVR is priced at GB pound 1,995. Both are available immediately.
