The new control room, part of a GB pound 700,000 contract for the North Eastern firm, has been officially opened and a commemorative plaque unveiled and adds to 2020 Vision’s expanding portfolio of campus-based projects.
Over 100 of the university’s CCTV cameras needed updating in order to migrate them from analogue to digital technology. And the control room has been completely redesigned to feature the very best in ergonomic philosophies as well as the latest security technology.
CCTV cameras have already helped a number of universities with security strategies and have ultimately led to a reduction in crimes committed in university grounds. The University of Birmingham, which currently caters for 30,000 students and 6,000 staff, hopes the upgraded equipment will reduce crime even further.
