The Visibell 3 system, which automatically displays a CCTV image of callers on the occupant’s TV screen, is being given out to victims of anti-social behaviour and distraction burglaries to help them decide who they should let inside.
Twelve of the UK’s 43 police forces are already recommending the product and over a thousand units have been installed so far, mainly in the north of England.
Ian Watson, who is marketing the product for its designers at Moreton Alarm Supplies, said business has picked up since exhibiting at IFSEC last year.
“We have installers now working in two London boroughs providing this kit to victims of domestic abuse.
“We exhibited at IFSEC last year and have spent many months since following up leads and interest from several new areas of policing.”
A new version of the product, Visibell SD, uses a pin hole camera and an SD Card to automatically record images of every visitor, which can be used as evidence in court and to prove breaches of court orders.
The entry-level Visibell 3 is available for GB pound 79.95 and can be linked to TV sets with a spare scart socket within an hour.
