State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

I4S video: Kaiser shot with live ammo in body armour tests

“In the world of executive protection it’s of great importance to see how quickly you could become fully operational again after being shot from close range,” explained Robert Kaiser, CEO of PPSS Group and a globally respected expert in body armour who’s known for his passion for personal protection and personal safety.

The comment comes in the wake of Kaiser himself being shot with live ammo while testing the company’s new covert bullet-resistant vests.

A high definition video (see below) has now been made available highlighting the trials during which Kaiser was shot from approximately nine feet (or 3 metres). The shot was fired from a Glock 19 handgun using 9×19 mm FMJ 124 gr ammunition.

Physical evidence, live ammunition

Kaiser is one of the very first individuals in this industry who has decided to ‘put his money where his mouth is’, it seems.

“I have seen many body armour companies making astonishing claims, so I decided to offer real physical evidence using live ammunition,” he explained.

Kaiser explained in great depth (and personally ensured) that this video was not produced to create any type of tough guy image, and it should also not be seen in terms of any disregard for human life.

Having viewed the video prior to general release, Kaiser believes it’s fair to say that all reasonable and necessary precautions were taken. One of the country’s leading trauma nurses was present, paramedics were on stand by and an IV was prepared in order to infuse essential drugs in case something had gone wrong during the test.

‘Best possible’ concealed protection

PPSS Body Armour has now launched its “ultra light and extremely thin” NIJ Level IIIA+ bullet-proof vest in order to offer executive and diplomatic security professionals what Kaiser terms “the best possible concealable protection”.

The armour weighs in at only 1.65 kg, has a thickness of just 6.5 mm and a protective area of 0.28 m2.

Made out of a high performance ballistic material, the new vests also offer additional protection from Tokarev Ball 7.62 x 25 mm and Makarov 9 x 18 mm.

Waterproof and breathable Cordura 180 and “groundbreaking temperature controlling Outlast space technology” render the body armour an ideal choice for hot and humid conditions.

A specially developed 0.85 mm trauma liner is said to provide “extremely effective” blunt trauma protection.
