Genie CCTV’s Self-Powered CCTV Trailer

Customers from the construction and event industries told Genie CCTV that they wanted a mobile surveillance solution that didn’t have to rely on diesel or mains power.

The Hertfordshire-based company, which offers offers the security industry a range of UK-branded surveillance and access control products, duly obliged.

Genie CCTV sales director John Boorman tells IFSEC Global about the resulting product, which you can see in the flesh at IFSEC International 2015 between 16-18 June.

IFSEC Global: Could you tell us a bit about what your product does?

Genie CCTV: At Genie CCTV we are launching a self-powered wireless CCTV solution called the “Solar guard RD”.  The Solarguard RD is a Rapid Deployment system designed to provide CCTV surveillance for applications and environments where mains power or fixed wired communication are not readily available.

The system utilises self-generated solar power from military specification  “PV” panels on the trailer, making it incredibly cost-effective and by far the most environmentally friendly solution available on the market.

It  can accommodate a choice of cameras on a user friendly hydraulic mast that can be extended up to 6 metres high.

Also attached to the CCTV Trailer will be local recording as well as a wireless IP bridge and optional 3G/4G remote connectivity, whereby control rooms can remotely access footage from miles away if a movement alarm is triggered.

IG: How did you get the idea?

GC: The idea first came in when we were talking to customers from the construction industry and event organisers who required a mobile CCTV solution that didn’t rely on diesel or mains power.

Having those type of systems wasn’t proving to be cost-effective and it meant that the final positioning of the trailer was based on the local power source and not its preferred or required location.

IG: Which kind of customers will be interested in this product?

GC: Construction, local government, road safety companies, general surveillance customers, event management and security monitoring. Temporary site management, industrial sites. The agricultural market sector.

IG: How is it innovative? What does it do that no other product does?

GC: The majority of products in the market offer a hybrid solution that require two sources of power – from mains, diesel, hydrogen or solar. Our product utilises purely self-generated power from incredibly efficient military specification solar panels.
