Both models in the VN686 series feature a 36x optical zoom and use a progressive scan CCD in the hope of delivering high image quality.
A series of advanced features, including a picture masking function that automatically blanks out certain parts of images to improve privacy, have also been added. One of these, an auto-tracking function, detects and follows moving objects.
Each model features an image stabiliser to improve the quality of telephoto footage that could be damaged by ‘tower wobble’, and a direct drive motor mechanism has been built into both cameras to improve their accuracy when locking onto objects. With 100 preset modes, it is said to be completely silent in operation.
“The ultra-quiet direct drive motor mechanism enables the new series to pan and tilt at only 35dB, which means it can be used in libraries, hospitals or even police interview rooms without any disturbance,” said Yash Patel, JVC’s executive director of CCTV in Europe.
Both VN-V686 cameras are capable of producing full-frame dual stream for simultaneous distribution of 30fps VGA MPEG-4 and 30fps VGA Motion JPEG streams.
The VN686 series will be on display at IIPSEC 2008 at the end of January.
